Labor Senator Kimberley Kitching says the "new Taliban" is "actually the same as the old Taliban" after it unveiled a series of new government appointees and did not include women in executive roles.
"There is so much to say about the Taliban," she told Sky News host Cory Bernardi.
"Remember when the Taliban was saying that they were the new Taliban, Taliban 2.0 - they're actually the same as the old Taliban.
"Girls' schools are still not open, and there's no date on when they are going to be reopened."
"Not only Australia and its allies but also its regional neighbours such as Pakistan have been calling on the Taliban to form an inclusive government, and what we're seeing is that they're just ignoring those calls."
