Moving Forward Together with Isaac Murdoch

Students have the opportunity to hear from Isaac Murdoch about the important connections between colonialism, resource extraction and climate change. He will explain how the Indian Residential School system was part of a targeted and systemic effort, through the Indian Act, to eliminate Indigenous peoples and cultures. We will examine how our collective efforts, roles and responsibilities can make positive change moving forward. Q & A will follow.

About the Presenter Isaac Murdoch:
Bomgiizhik (Isaac Murdoch) is from Serpent River FN and is from the Fish Clan. He has spent years living in the bush as a trapper, wild rice harvester, maple syrup maker, and hunter. He is a survivor and now helps educators understand colonialism and how they can make a difference in the education system. He currently lives at Nimkii Aazhibikoong Language and Cultural Community.
