Commitment: Standing for Jesus and the Truth

Commitment: Standing for Jesus and the Truth

Commitment is being the same person no matter where you are and who you are with. It requires strength of character and confidence in who you are and what you are committed to. There are weak and double-minded people who wear completely different faces depending on where they are or who they are with. My daughter Sarah told me when she was working at Arby’s she had a co-worker that was so nice to her, but was always talking bad about everyone else. She had a feeling that when she wasn’t around, this person was probably talking bad about Sarah.

But Christians have more integrity than that. They are committed to following Jesus and standing for the truth. But sometimes we find ourselves in situations we don't expect and our commitment fails us. That was the experience of two of Jesus apostles in John 18

In this lesson:

• We will look at how Judas and Peter’s stand for Jesus depended on where they were standing.

• We will see how Jesus always stood for truth, regardless of where he was standing.

• We will draw some lessons from these examples for us.
