'Clear lines of division' needed between police force and government: Panahi

Victoria has seen a former chief of staff to Premier Daniel Andrews appointed as an assistant police commissioner – something that just should not happen, says Sky News host Rita Panahi.

Former chief of staff to the Andrews government Brett Curran was appointed Assistant Commissioner for Gender Equality & Inclusion Command back in 2015.

"That is a very senior role within the hierarchy," Ms Panahi said.

"That sort of thing, in my belief, should not happen."

"There should be clear lines of division between the police force and the government – and the two seem to be in lockstep together."
