Teen Track Athletes Give Back and Coach Kids During Pandemic

On your mark, get set, go! The Nanaimo Track and Field Club was established shortly after World War II and has trained prospective athletes from the ages of 6 to 99+. However, the loss of volunteer coaches during the pandemic limited program availability.

Ten of the club's teenaged athletes stepped up to take on coaching and mentorship duties to bring back training for younger children. They've taken the lead on the Track Rascals (6-8 years of age) and the Junior Development (9-13 years of age) programs developing their leadership skills at the same time.
