Mariah Carey’s Emotions Turns 30! See RARE Interviews and Behind-the-Scenes Footage

A look back at Mariah Carey’s ‘Emotions’ era, with rare interviews from the ET vault. After winning two GRAMMY awards for her self-titled debut album, fans and critics alike were curious to see what Mariah’s sophomore album would sound like. On Aug. 13, 1991, Mariah gave listeners the first taste of her second album when its title track, ‘Emotions,’ was released as the first single. Entertainment Tonight was with the singer as she shot the music video for ‘Emotions,’ which went on to be her fifth no. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single. Mariah shared other ‘moments’ with ET, including a record signing for the album, behind the scenes on the set of ‘Top of the Pops’ for a performance of ‘Can’t Let Go,’ making the music video for ‘Make it Happen’ and in the studio with Trey Lorenz for his 1992 self-titled album. Carey and Lorenz found great success with their cover of Jackson 5’s ‘I’ll Be There,’ which was performed during the taping of her 1992 ‘MTV Unplugged’ special. The live recording of the song became Mariah’s sixth Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping single.
