EC19V will assess if it is suitable for children under 12 to be vaccinated: Chan Chun Sing

The Expert Committee on COVID-19 Vaccination (EC19V) is still monitoring ongoing trials for children under the age of 12, said Education Minister Chan Chun Sing in Parliament on Monday (2 Aug).

Mr Chan stated that the EC19V will assess if it is suitable to administer these vaccines to children under the age of 12, adding that the Committee will make recommendations to the Ministry of Health (MOH) at the appropriate time.

"Ultimately, managing COVID-19, whether nationally or in our school setting, is about managing risks and balancing trade-offs," he remarked.

In a follow-up question, the Workers' Party MP for Sengkang GRC He Ting Ru asked what efforts are being made to address the many concerns from parents regarding the vaccination of their children.
