Types of carpet cleaner
Carpet cleaning methods are not all the same. In fact, there are many different ways to clean various types of carpets. What many people do not understand is that carpet fibers are not all made the same, so certain types of carpet will require a different type of cleaning method.

Number 1.
Dry Powder Cleaning
It involves a technique called “the host system”. In this technique, a soft, natural cleaning product is combined with a small amount of water, detergent, and a safe-to-use solvent. This mixture is then sprinkled onto the carpet, creating clumps that look like pieces of sawdust. These clumps then act like micro-sponges that dissolve and absorb dirt. Later, the clumps are vacuumed out to reveal a cleaner carpet surface. This method is not considered as a deep-cleaning since it just removes dirt from the surface of a carpet. However, this is an appropriate maintenance cleaning technique for commercial use.

Number 2.
Steam Carpet Cleaning
It is probably one of the most well-known cleaning methods and is also used often. It does have its disadvantages though because it uses an awful lot of water. When the water soaks deep down into the pad of the carpet, it can damage it so severely that the carpet may need to be replaced. However, if steam cleansing is done properly, and not too frequently, it can be effective. It is also known as “Hot water extraction” and basically it works by having a very powerful machine put a hot water and cleanser solution deep down into the carpet.

Number 3.
Encapsulation Cleaning
In encapsulation cleaning, the carpet is first vacuumed before encapsulating chemical is applied. Afterward, a rotary agitation machine is placed on the carpet, which allows encapsulating chemicals to absorb and isolate the dirt on the carpet, allowing the isolated dirt to then be vacuumed.

Number 4.
Bonnet Cleaning
Also called “Dry Cleaning” by some companies, this is in fact not a dry cleaning process but a low moisture one. Because only the surface of the carpet is treated, the carpet is usually dry in 30 minutes. In Bonnet Cleaning, self-neutralizing detergent is sprayed into the carpet and it’s then agitated with a rotary scrubber with a dry cotton bonnet pad attached.

Number 5.
Professional Steam Cleaning
In Professional steam cleaning, steam is expelled at high pressure and high temperature to help get rid of bacterias, dust mites, and odor. This method is effective to remove dirt, mold, and scents from carpets as well as considerably improve their appearance. This deep-cleaning is ideal for both commercial and domestic use.

When dealing with a carpet cleaning company, a technician should be able to recommend you the best carpet cleaning method for you depending on the style of your carpet, the amount of dirt it holds, and the result you wish to achieve.
