Prince William and Prince Harry were at a mental health event, at which presenter Melvin Odoom was DJing.
The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant recalled to Oti Mabuse on her podcast how there were some rules he had to follow for the appearance.
As part of his work with The Prince’s Trust, Melvin met his fair share of royals.
One such event the radio DJ was involved in was for a mental health charity event.
This was attended by Prince Harry and Prince William as part of their charity work in the field.
Melvin was asked to DJ at the event, but he explained it came with some rules when he met the royals.
He recalled meeting Kate Middleton as well as the warning he received to avoid swearing at the event.
Melvin explained: “She came over and you can’t put your hand out, you have to let them put their hand out.
“They shake your hand and you have to call her ‘Your Royal Highness’ and all that stuff.
“She came over and they were like, ‘You’re probably not going to meet Harry and Will today.’
“And then I played some music and they were like, ‘You have to make sure there’s no swearing in any of the music that you’re playing.’”
However, Melvin also admitted he was able to have a hilarious run-in with Prince Harry at the event.
He continued to host Oti: “So anyway I started packing up and I’m putting my headphones in my bag and I hear from over the decks, ‘Have you got any Bruno Mars?’.
“And I’m like, ‘Who is this dude?’ and I look up and it’s Harry. And I’m like, ‘I’m sorry sir, I’m just packing up.’
He’s like, ‘I’m only joking, great work’ and he just disappeared. Harry seems like proper fun.”
